Hi, I’m Rach.
I was raised in Taupō on a sheep and beef farm, where my parents bred, raised and trained Quarter Horses and competed in cutting. From a young age I competed both nationally and internationally in Western Performance, which sparked my passion for Western Pleasure.
At the age of 16, I moved to Victoria Australia, where I spent 5 years working for Kyle and Kristy at Solitaire Western Performance Horses. I then moved to Byron Bay for the following 4 years, joining ‘The Surfing Cowboys’ (previously known as Branded BP polo and race horses), where I learned how to start colts on the gorgeous beaches of South Ballina.
I returned to New Zealand in 2020, to work for an incredible family friend, Lyn, at Riarma Quarter Horse Stud for one season -
Where I met her son, and my now husband James, and never left!
This provided me the incredible opportunity to start my own business back in New Zealand, which is a breaking and training program founded on my Australian learnings along the way.
My horse training facility is based on our home property in Okuku, Canterbury,
Where we now have a handful of incredible Quarter Horse mares from the Riarma Quarter Horse lineage, and breed each year with the hopes to raise, train and sell good minded, gorgeous and talented horses of the highest standard, just as both my parents, and James’s parents once did.
